Each team also has two professional mentors from large companies such as Ernst & Young (official sponsor of BIG Consulting), Microsoft, Hitachi Consulting, Bank of America, US Bank, etc. 

How long is the BIG Consulting Program?

The program is typically 6 weeks long. At the end of the program, teams will give a final presentation to their client about the work that they’ve completed throughout the quarter.

Do I have to be a business major to participate in the program? 

No. We look for business-oriented individuals who are eager and motivated to practice their civic duties, overcome challenges, and develop strategies to directly impact the local business community. 

What is the average time commitment?

Students typically are expected to individually contribute a minimum of 4-6 hours per week (depending on how long it takes them to complete their weekly projects) throughout the program. This time includes: weekly team meetings, client meetings, and independent work time. Time commitment may increase as the quarter progresses. Our students have been able to balance part time jobs, internships, and other student organization obligations through their participation in this program. An appropriate meeting schedule for the quarter will be created by each team at the first client meeting to accommodate everyone's schedule as best as possible. However, it is important that each participating individual treats this consulting opportunity as an internship or even a part-time job as they will be working with real clients and businesses. Professionalism is expected of each individual.  

How can I get involved with BIG Consulting? 

 BIG Consulting is offered FallWinter, and Spring Quarter for University of Washington Seattle undergrads. At the beginning of each quarter, applications will be available for students to apply for the program. You may also attend BIG events to get your foot in the door such as our professional consulting workshops or mid-quarter social dinners. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program, network with professionals, and get to know the participating students or program alumni.
