Our Purpose

Business Impact Group offers a unique and valuable opportunity for students to apply lessons learned in the classroom setting directly to real-world business situations. In conjunction with the Consulting & Business Development Center, the Business Impact Group is proud to offer local businesses who typically do not have access to traditional consulting services the opportunity to work with our student consultants..

Each quarter, several teams of five student consultants will help companies grow by utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills to deliver innovative and impactful solutions to their clients. If you are interested in helping companies achieve their goals, creating jobs in the community, and strengthening the regional economy, BIG Consulting is for you!

How can I get involved?

The Foster Consulting Program is offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter for University of Washington Seattle undergrads. At the beginning of each quarter, applications will be available for students to apply for the program.

What's in it for me?

Hands on business experience. Life-long connections. Exclusive networking opportunities with the Consulting & Business Development Center’s Board of Directors and alumni beyond the BIG Consulting program. Each team also has at least two professional mentors from large companies such as Ernst & Young, Microsoft, Hitachi Consulting, Bank of America, US Bank, etc.

How long is the Foster Consulting Program?

The program is typically 6 weeks long. At the end of the program, teams will give a final presentation to their client about the work that they’ve completed throughout the quarter.

Do I have to be a business major?

No, we welcome students from all kinds of backgrounds to apply! We look for students who are eager and motivated to practice their civic duties, overcome challenges, and develop strategies to directly impact the local business community.

What is the average time commitment?

Students typically are expected to individually contribute around 7-10 hours per week which varies throughout the program. This time includes: weekly team meetings, client meetings, and independent work time.
